National Quality Recognition

At Ardent, our teams of dedicated providers, clinicians and support staff strive to deliver the best care in the safest environment possible. With a shared focus on evidence-based practices and strategic investments in innovative technologies and tools to support our caregivers, we work to exceed quality and safety benchmarks and create a culture that places people at the center of everything we do.

Our facilities consistently rank higher than the national average for quality measures assessed by independent quality organizations.

  • In spring 2023, 83% of eligible Ardent hospitals received either an “A” or “B” grade, in addition to 69% in the fall – outperforming 55% and 54% of all ranked U.S. hospitals in each grading period.
  • Nine Ardent facilities were nationally recognized by Leapfrog in 2023 as a Top Teaching Hospital, Top General Hospital or Top Rural Hospital.
  • Most recently, nine Ardent hospitals received an "A" or "B" Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade for spring 2024 - exceeding the national average for eligible hospitals.

A Strong Foundation

One of our most important investments to date is the adoption of a single instance of the Epic electronic health record throughout our hospitals, clinics and other sites of care. In addition to making processes such as registration and billing more efficient, having a standardized health record has provided an important clinical foundation that has led to measurable improvements in patient safety, length of stay, and other quality benchmarks. Ardent recently achieved a Level 9 of 10 in the Epic Gold Stars program – placing us in the top third of all Epic customers.

MissionZERO

Our high marks in quality and safety begin with a culture where team members feel safe and empowered to speak up. MissionZERO represents Ardent’s commitment to the principles of high reliability with the goal of ensuring zero harm occurs in our hospitals, clinics or anywhere care is delivered.

A culture of safety and high reliability requires every team member – regardless of their role – to ask questions and report errors or concerns. Through MissionZERO and other safety initiatives, we strive to provide caregivers with the tools and systems to safely care for patients and create an environment where they feel safe and supported.

A Learning Organization

We consistently partner with providers and care teams to identify and share the most effective practices across the Ardent network.

Our Physician Advisory Council brings together medical leaders from eight specialties to identify and scale clinical best practices across the organization. The Council also guides the development and implementation of new service lines, technology investments and other initiatives designed to improve the quality and safety of care across our facilities.
