Veteran advisor to lead Ardent’s organization-wide efforts to advance DEI initiatives in meaningful ways for patients, team members and communities
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (April 12, 2024) – Ardent Health has appointed Lisa Gutierrez as vice president of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). Gutierrez will oversee the organization’s DEI efforts, including training, community relations and high-impact programs to further develop Ardent’s culture of belonging.
Gutierrez brings a wealth of experience building creative strategies that mobilize organizations around DEI goals. With more than two decades of experience leading diversity and inclusion for major companies and academic institutions, Gutierrez most recently served as chief diversity and inclusion officer for Indiana University Health. She focuses on leveraging differences to help drive results and serves as a strategic thought partner at the intersection of diversity, inclusive leadership and innovation.
“We are excited to welcome Lisa to our team as we continue to build and advance a culture of belonging across Ardent and the communities we serve,” said Marty Bonick, president and CEO of Ardent Health. “DEI is at the root of our purpose of caring for people and Lisa’s expertise and commitment to creating inclusive workspaces and more equitable communities will help Ardent continue to make healthcare better.”
Working with leaders and team members, Gutierrez will collaborate with Ardent’s local DEI Councils to tailor programs to Ardent’s markets and measure the effectiveness of DEI initiatives. She will also develop new processes and training opportunities to foster awareness and advocacy.
“I am honored to join Ardent and support its focus on creating a culture of belonging for all,” said Gutierrez. “My passion is connecting the dots between amazing people, their backgrounds and solving complex problems. Our unique backgrounds provide great opportunities to deliver on our purpose of caring for our communities and helping people throughout their healthcare journey.”
Gutierrez is originally from New Mexico and is a graduate of the University of Colorado Boulder.
