NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Dec. 6, 2022) – Highlighting nationally recognized achievements in patient safety and quality, seven Ardent Health Services-affiliated hospitals have been named a Top Hospital by The Leapfrog Group.
The Leapfrog Top Hospital awards are widely acknowledged as one of the most competitive awards American hospitals can receive. The Top Hospital designation is bestowed by The Leapfrog Group, a national watchdog organization of employers and other purchasers widely acknowledged as the toughest standard-setters for healthcare safety and quality.
The recognized facilities include:
Top General Hospital
- Tulsa Spine and Specialty Hospital – Tulsa, Oklahoma
Top Rural Hospitals
- Hillcrest Hospital Cushing – Cushing, Oklahoma
- UT Health Carthage – Carthage, Texas
- UT Heath Pittsburg – Pittsburg, Texas
Top Teaching Hospitals
- Hillcrest Medical Center – Tulsa, Oklahoma
- Heart Hospital of New Mexico at Lovelace Medical Center – Albuquerque, New Mexico
- UT North Campus Tyler – Tyler, Texas
“We are proud to earn this prestigious distinction as national leaders in quality and safety. Ardent has a strong culture of safety, which is especially evident at these locations,” said Ardent President and CEO Marty Bonick. “We are grateful to our caregivers who live out their commitment to our Purpose of caring for our patients, their families and one another every day.”
More than 2,200 hospitals were considered for the award with just 115 hospitals gaining Top Hospital recognition. The quality of patient care across many areas of hospital performance is considered in establishing the qualifications for the award, including infection rates, practices for safer surgery, maternity care, and the hospital’s capacity to prevent medication errors. The rigorous standards are defined in each year’s Top Hospital Methodology.
“We are honored to recognize these Ardent facilities as Top Hospitals this year,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “Each has demonstrated that they truly put patients first. We congratulate the board, staff and clinicians whose efforts made this honor possible.”
To qualify for the Top Hospitals distinction, hospitals must rank top among peers on the Leapfrog Hospital Survey, which assesses hospital performance on the highest standards for quality and patient safety, and achieve top performance in its category.
